Finidi George has stepped down from his role as the head coach of the Super Eagles.
It is reported that Finidi made this decision over the weekend, following the Nigeria Football Federation’s announcement of plans to hire a foreign technical adviser.
The news of his departure was confirmed by former Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, on his social media account.
Ibitoye posted: “Breaking news: Finidi George @FinidiGeorge_FG has resigned from his @NGSuperEagles coaching position.”
Finidi was appointed just recently on April 29, 2024, taking over from Jose Peseiro, whose contract had ended in February.
During his short time in charge, the ex-Enyimba manager oversaw a 1-1 draw against South Africa and a 2-1 loss to Benin Republic, both in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
