On Tuesday morning, a massive explosion rocked the city of Jos, rippling through neighboring communities with its shockwaves.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion took place at around 10:30 a.m. near the heavily populated Terminus market area.
Preliminary reports suggest that several individuals were injured in the explosion, and some sources indicate there may have been fatalities.

“I was nearby when I heard a loud bang,” recounted an eyewitness. “I saw people running and screaming. It was terrifying,” added Gyang Buba, a clothes vendor who confirmed the incident.

The Plateau State Police Command has not yet released a public statement regarding the incident.
Efforts to contact the Command’s spokesperson, Alabo Alfred, were unsuccessful because his phone was turned off.
Nevertheless, security sources at the police command headquarters in Jos verified the incident and reported that an investigation had been initiated.
“The area has been sealed off as investigators start to evaluate the situation. Our efforts are focused on identifying the cause of the explosion,” stated the source. “We appeal for calm and assure the public that we will take all necessary measures to ensure their safety.”
