Everton, a Premier League club, has once again found itself in trouble for violating the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of the Premier League.
In January, they were charged alongside Nottingham Forest for breaching these rules, which cover the period leading up to the 2022/23 season.
As a result of this breach, Everton has been hit with a two-point deduction, while Nottingham Forest received a more severe punishment of a four-point deduction. However, Forest has decided to appeal against this decision.
Prior to the announcement of the points deduction, Everton was positioned 15th in the Premier League table, with a four-point cushion above the relegation zone. However, with the deduction, they have now slipped down to 16th place, falling below Brentford.

Currently, Everton has accumulated 27 points, placing them two points and two positions above 18th-placed Luton.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time Everton has faced a points deduction.
In November, they were deducted 10 points for exceeding the permitted losses by £19.5m, but this penalty was later reduced to six points after a successful appeal.
