Former Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai has declared his intention to leave politics and return to the business sector.

Certified quantity surveyor El-Rufai said on X on Monday his intention to form Afri-Venture Capital Company Ltd., with plans to start operations in Abuja in early 2024.

He declared that the company’s objective is to support and nurture African and Nigerian business owners in order to mould the upcoming generation of industry titans.

Together with esteemed directors Jimi Lawal, Hafiz Bayero, Eyo Ekpo, and Kabir Yabo, El-Rufai will oversee this project with the intention of fostering and guiding the next generation of business leaders, perhaps resulting in Dangote Group acolytes.

The firm offers potential for young inventors and entrepreneurs, signalling a surge of support and opportunity in Africa’s commercial scene, according to the former minister for the Federal Capital Territory.

“Basically, what young people need to get companies started are funding and mentoring. They work on the concept to determine its viability. And since they don’t have contact, we will open doors for them.

They have no access to or knowledge of ministers, presidents, or government agencies. Yes, we do. We are aware of the hazards they must overcome. We are aware that they must schedule appointments with them, and we are able to offer them startup capital in exchange for an ownership stake.

“Our goal is to grow your business, not to steal it. However, we will take a cut of the business if we take a chance on you, El-Rufai stated to Business Day.
