BREAKING: ECOWAS Defence Chiefs Hold Urgent Meeting in Abuja

ECOWAS defence chiefs meet in Abuja to discuss regional security issues. Learn more about the agenda and outcomes.

At the moment, a meeting is taking place at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja with Chiefs of Defence Staff from Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

General Christopher Musa, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff and chairman of the ECOWAS Committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff presides over the meeting.

Present at the meeting are Mohammed Badaru, Minister of Defence; Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Ahmed Lawan, Chairman of Senate Committee on Defence.

The attendees include the Chairman of House Committee of Defence, a representative from the National Security Adviser’s office, Chief Christopher Musa and service chiefs in addition to military leaders participating under ECOWAS with exception to Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.
