In a recent development, the Department of State Services (DSS) has replaced the Chief Security Officer to President Bola Tinubu, marking a significant security shift in the presidency.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has appointed a new Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President Bola Tinubu, replacing Adegboyega Fasasi.
According to The Nation, Rasheed Atanda Lawal, a Deputy Director at the DSS, has succeeded Fasasi.
By Sunday evening, no official statement had been released concerning the reason for Fasasi’s removal. However, insiders with knowledge of the matter disclosed that Tosin Ajayi, the Director-General of the DSS, requested presidential approval to relieve Fasasi from his duties so he could participate in a strategic training program.
A source informed The Nation, “The perspective I want us to consider is that this ‘change of guards’ typically occurs when the DSS appoints a new Director General. Since their work revolves around intelligence and secrecy, the new DG would naturally prefer having trusted personnel in key positions—most notably at the Presidency and within the office of the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the President.”
The Presidency has not yet released an official response to the development.
