A Federal High Court in Zamfara State has rejected a request for an ex parte order from a faction supported by Governor Bala Mohammed, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, to conduct the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
The group sought a court order to convene the NEC meeting as the party’s internal crisis intensified.
Justice Salim Ibrahim, presiding over the case, rejected the request.
It was earlier reported that a group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under the leadership of Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed, sought an ex parte order from the court to conduct the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
Several governors elected under the PDP platform, headed by Mohammed, previously attempted to oust acting national chairman Amb. Umar Damagum.
The decision escalated the party’s crisis, with certain stakeholders—particularly supporters of Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister—voicing their opposition.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has also issued an order preventing the party from removing Damagum.
