Oba Ghandi Olaoye, the new Soun of Ogbomoso, has been dismissed by the Oyo State High Court, which is seated in Ogbomoso.
The Oyo State Government was directed by the court to hold a new election for the position of Soun.
This came about as a result of a lawsuit that competitor Kabir Laoye initiated.
In his lawsuit, Laoye had said that Olaoye was not qualified to be chosen as Soun and that, as a result, his appointment was unlawful

Laoye’s argument was accepted by the court, which declared Olaoye’s appointment to be void.
In addition, the government was told by the court to hold off on filling the post until after it rendered a decision.
On September 8, 2023, the Oyo State Government named Olaoye as the new Soun, and that same day, he was enthroned.
