Chief Frank Kokori, an elderly statesman in declining health and the former General Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), has passed away.

During the early hours of Thursday, our reporter learned that he passed away at precisely 1:30 am on Thursday, December 7, 2023—coincidentally his birthday at exactly 80.

He claimed that on Monday, the former union leader’s health worsened because he was unable to communicate with those around him while being on life support.

The octogenarian has been ill since early November at the Mount Horeb Clinic in Warri, Delta State’s Warri South Local Government Area, due to a kidney-related condition.
