BREAKING: Bandits Launch Deadly Ambush on Soldiers in Sokoto, Destroy Vehicles

Soldiers were killed in a vicious ambush by bandits in Sokoto, who also burned patrol vehicles, highlighting the ongoing security crisis.

A tragic incident occurred as bandits ambushed soldiers on patrol in Gudu Local Government Area, Sokoto State resulting in the death of four army personnel.

Two soldiers were injured as a result of the attack.

According to Yahya Gudu, the Sokoto State House of Assembly representative for Gudu constituency, two patrol vehicles were set on fire by the attackers after a surprise attack occurred along Kukurau-Bangi road.

Gudu confirmed that on Saturday, gunmen attacked soldiers patrolling along the Kukurau-Bangi road and killed four while injuring two. Moreover, they set fire to their patrol vehicles resulting in destruction.

According to an anonymous local, a group of heavily armed bandits rode through the area on 20 motorcycles with two people aboard each one. While no community members were harmed or abducted by the group, gunshots could be heard in their wake.

According to the resident, they later discovered that the soldiers who were patrolling the area had been ambushed and four of them had lost their lives. Their comrades retrieved their bodies.

Not long ago, the community bore witness to a bout of violence wherein seven people lost their lives at the hands of bandits who were chasing vigilantes. One resident recounted how they had alerted security forces about these criminals’ presence; however, no significant measures were taken – likely because said outlaws possessed sophisticated weaponry.

Efforts to contact Lieutenant Colonel Ikechukwu Eze, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Army’s 8 Division, for input proved unproductive.
