Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), setting the stage for intense group-stage action.

The Nigerian Super Eagles will face Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda in the upcoming African Cup of Nations tournament set to take place in Morocco.

During the ceremony held in Morocco on Monday, the Nigerian team was placed in Group C.

The highly anticipated matchup in the group will feature Nigeria taking on Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles.

Champions on their home soil in 2004, Tunisia ousted Nigeria in the semi-finals and then triumphed over Morocco to win the final. Additionally, during AFCON 2021 held in Cameroon, the Tunisian team once again eliminated Nigeria in the Round of 16.

In 2000, Nigeria triumphed over Tunisia with a score of 4-2 as they advanced to the AFCON final against Cameroon in Lagos.

While Nigeria and Tunisia are the more accomplished teams in the group, Tanzania and Uganda from East Africa will likely compete for the two automatic qualifying spots.

The other groups also feature thrilling matchups, with host nation Morocco heading Group A along with Mali, Zambia, and Comoros.

Group B is packed with powerhouses, including Egypt, South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe. All of them have much to prove in the group stage.

In Group D, the 2021 champions Senegal will compete against DR Congo, Benin, and Botswana. Meanwhile, in Group E, Algeria is set to face off with Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan.

The reigning champions, Ivory Coast, aim to outperform Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique as they begin defending the title they secured on their home turf last year.

As the countdown begins for the tournament in Morocco this December, Nigerian fans are hopeful that the Super Eagles will surpass their previous achievement, having narrowly lost to Ivory Coast in last year’s final.
