A 24-hour curfew has been instituted in the Kaduna and Zaria metropolitan cities by Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State.
Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner overseeing internal security and home affairs, released a statement on Monday. He stated that following an analysis of the current security situation in Kaduna State by Governor Uba Sani’s Security Council, there is adequate evidence to suggest that criminal elements have used the ongoing protests as cover for looting shops and destroying public and private property.

Due to this regrettable occurrence, the Kaduna State Security Council has collectively decided to enforce a curfew for 24 hours in the cities of Kaduna and Zaria as well as their surrounding areas with immediate effect.
According to the statement, it is suggested for citizens to stay inside until security forces can ensure safety and security.
The statement stated that monitoring would continue to be carried out in order to review the curfew as necessary.
