BREAKING: 17 soldiers laid to rest in Abuja by military

The military conducted the burial ceremony for the seventeen army personnel who tragically lost their lives in Delta State on March 14, with the solemn event taking place on Wednesday, March 27.

The fallen soldiers, including a Lt. Colonel, two majors, a Captain, and 13 soldiers, were laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja, marking a poignant moment at 5:45 pm.

The army personnel were attacked and killed by youths on March 14 while they were on a peacekeeping mission following a reported communal clash between Okuama and Okoloba Communities in Ughelli South and Bomadi local government areas of Delta State.

Among those buried at the National Military Cemetery were Lt. Col. A.H Ali, Maj Safa, Maj D.E Obi, and Cap U. Zakari, along with several soldiers including Staff Sergeant Yahaya Saidu, Corporal Yahaya Danbaba, Corporal Kabir Bashir, and others.

President Bola Tinubu, serving as the Special Guest of Honour, arrived at the burial venue around 4:08 pm, joining other dignitaries like Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Kano State Governor Yusuf Abba Gida, and various other state governors and high-ranking officials.

During the ceremony, President Tinubu paid tribute to the deceased personnel, hailing them as noble individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for the peace and security of the nation.
