Borno: Suspected “Boko Haram” members murder a vigilante and an imam

In the Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, Boko Haram militants are believed to have killed a vigilante as well as Imam Goni Muktar, the Chief Imam of Kaga.

In Malamti, a Benishek suburb, rebels in a Volkswagen Golf attacked the imam’s apartment just before 12:30 a.m. on Monday.

Inside the Civilian Joint Task Force, there was only insurgent manner of operation, according to a source.

“On Sunday evening, a group of gunmen who appeared to be Boko Haram fighters broke into the home of Kaga LGA Imam Goni Muktar, the chief imam, and assassinated him.

“The attackers took one of the vigilantes who was on duty by force. “This marks the second chief imam’s death in Kaga in as many months,” he declared.

The late imam would be buried today, but the Civilian JTF stated that they could not immediately determine the incident’s primary cause.
