Victor Boniface, the forward for Bayer Leverkusen, expressed the challenges he faced while being sidelined due to an adductor injury sustained during Nigeria’s preparatory camp for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Following the injury, the 23-year-old underwent surgery and had to spend approximately three months away from the field.
However, Boniface made a triumphant return to action during Bayer Leverkusen’s DFB Pokal victory against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Wednesday night.

Reflecting on his time away, the Nigeria international acknowledged the difficulty he experienced, especially considering the timing of the injury coincided with Leverkusen’s need for his contribution.
Nonetheless, Boniface expressed gratitude for the support he received from his teammates, coach, and everyone at the club, which helped him navigate through this challenging period.
