Bombing in Kaduna community specifically aimed at terrorists — DHQ
According to the Defence Headquarters, intelligence regarding the suspicious activities of terrorists in the area served as the basis for the drone attack that took place on Sunday against the Ligarma community in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, made this announcement on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to Buba, at approximately 2200 hours on Sunday, the Nigerian Army’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) detachment noticed terrorist activity in Ligarma, which is a known terrorist hotspot in Kaduna State.
According to him, the movement of groups of people was caught on camera by aerial surveillance, which is indicative of terrorist tactics and methods.
According to Buba, the infrastructure that was within the range of the terrorists’ activities was at risk due to their observed advance.
He claimed that in order to stop the terrorists from terrorising defenceless civilians, the threat was removed.
It should be mentioned that terrorists frequently plant themselves purposefully in areas where there are civilian populations so that the civilian population will suffer the consequences of their atrocities.
However, the Nigerian military always makes an effort to tell the difference between terrorists and civilians.
“Every civilian death in the course of operations is viewed by the military as a tragedy because these tragedies are unwarranted and unnecessary, leading the armed forces to take drastic measures to prevent them,” the official stated.
He claims that one such action done by the military is to constantly provide communities with exact instructions.
For example, communities must always notify the military of their activities, especially if the community is known to be rife with terrorists and those who support them.
He stated, “The purpose of these instructions is to enable the military to distinguish between friendly and untoward activities.”
The armed forces, according to Buba, would carry on with their determined and cautious efforts to drive out terrorists from the country while also operating in compliance with international law.
He claimed that one of the terrorists’ common strategies was to pose as a civilian in order to carry out acts of terror. He also promised that the military would keep coming up with creative ways to overcome the difficulties it faces while carrying out its duties.
