According to the Kaduna State Government, the Army has taken ownership of the attack that happened on Sunday and left numerous people maimed as well as dead.
News reporters were given access to a statement released on Monday by Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, which included this information.
The statement states that the Nigerian Army provided an explanation of the events leading up to the regrettable and inadvertent attack following a security meeting chaired by Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe. The meeting was attended by heads of security agencies as well as religious and traditional leaders.
The Nigerian Army went on a normal mission against terrorists when it unintentionally injured people of the community, according to a statement from Major VU Okoro, the General Officer Commanding of One Division of the Nigerian Army.
“After the closed-door meeting, the Deputy Governor prayed for the souls of the deceased and expressed the condolences of the Kaduna State government and people to the families who had lost loved ones.
“At the time of this update, the government had transported hundreds of injured victims to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, but search and rescue operations were still underway.
“MY Garba, the Commissioner of Police, and Abdul Eneche, the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), were among the heads of security agencies present at the meeting.
Professor Shafi’u Abdullahi, the Chairman of the Jam’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) Kaduna State Chapter, led other religious authorities. The District of Rigasa, Alhaji Aminu Idris, whose territory the incident happened, was also present at the conference.
