A member of the House of Representatives named Yusuf Gagdi claimed that Boko Haram groups from the Northeast have migrated into Plateau State forests.
In a motion he moved on the House floor on Wednesday, Gagdi, the head of the Committee on Navy, revealed this to the public.
Gagdi stated in the motion that “influxes from other states that are affected by banditry and Boko Haram activities have now turned Kanam’s forest into a haven for bandits and Boko Haram terrorists.”
He claimed that the state’s sense of unease is exacerbated by the terrorists’ presence on the plateau.
According to Gagdi, the death of APC publicity secretary Sylvanus Namang in Pankshin Local Government Area (LGA) indicates a decline in security.

“In Bokkos Forest in Plateau State, the lifeless body of a former member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Sunday Muchen, whom we had served together, was found,” he said.
The Chief of Defence Staff was then asked by the House to create two military bases in Kanam, one in Gun-Gagdi and one in Garga.
Additionally, they urged the Director of the Department of State Security to lead a security operation in the area to drive out bandits and members of Boko Haram. They also called on the Inspector-General of Police and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to send more personnel to the affected areas in Gun-Gagdi, Garga, Pankshin, and Kanke.
There was unanimous approval of the motion.
