Boko Haram insurgents have attacked a school in Yobe, Nigeria, resulting in the deaths of three students. The assault highlights ongoing security challenges in the region.
The Yobe State Police Command reported that in the early hours of Friday morning, gunmen believed to be affiliated with Boko Haram assaulted Faudiya Islamic School located in the Geidam Local Government Area. Tragically, three students lost their lives as a result of this attack.
The assault, transpiring at approximately 3:45 am was validated by Dungus Abdulkarim, the representative of law enforcement.
Reportedly, the attackers rode in on motorcycles and carried lethal weapons as they stormed into the school with their primary objective being to kidnap students.
They chose to eliminate the students right there and then, fearing the “trouble” of transporting them into the woods.
After trying to flee, a single student suffered harm and required medical attention at the hospital.
A report was received this morning by the Geidam divisional police headquarters from an individual confirming that a specific school had been subject to attack.

Abdulkarim reported to the media that after mobilizing our team, we successfully evacuated three deceased individuals and one gunshot victim who was promptly admitted into a hospital.
In addition, he elaborated that the assailants arrived on motorcycles in a group of approximately ten individuals. These perpetrators were equipped with lethal weapons including AK-47 rifles and various other items.
Upon entering the school, they seized four students and caused instant death to three of them while injuring one individual.
Abdulkarim stated that a student who was injured reported the attackers’ intention to abduct them; however, they chose instead to kill them in order to evade transportation difficulties.
According to him, the ongoing investigation by the police is aimed at identifying those responsible for the incident and revealing why they launched such an attack.
