PDP chieftain Bode George claims rising hardship has fueled Nigerians’ eagerness to vote out President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that Nigerians are prepared to remove President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) government from Aso Rock in 2027.
George, speaking at a news conference in Lagos on Thursday to mark his 79th birthday, stated that PDP members and leaders need to use the upcoming National Convention as an opportunity to revitalize the party.
As a dedicated and unwavering supporter of the PDP, I have been with the party since its inception. Today provides me an excellent opportunity to discuss our party’s future.
As the senior members of the party get ready to meet in Abuja on November 28 to plan our future course, I feel it is my responsibility to openly acknowledge that all is not well within our party. In reality, we are going off track.
This is unfortunate, as the crisis within our party has exacerbated the current socio-economic challenges facing our nation.
“I am sounding the alarm today that our party is on the brink of a potentially serious crisis, and urgent action is needed to address critical pending issues,” he stated.
George, a lifetime member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), mentioned that although the party leadership was doing its utmost to make all members feel included, certain ‘desperados’ were attempting everything possible to undermine their efforts.
George urged for a united PDP, expressing that the party’s founding fathers would be turning in their graves as it has become “a shadow of itself due to the selfish interests of some members.”
He described it as disheartening and pitiable that some pretentious members were already collaborating with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in preparation for the 2027 elections.
They have a foot in both the PDP and APC, constantly shifting their allegiance. These adaptable individuals are attempting to steer the direction of this party.

For the sake of all that our great party holds dear, patriotic members must immediately put an end to this pretense.
Since the inaugural elective convention of our party in 1999, when some of us were entrusted with leadership roles within the PDP, we have never faced such challenging times.
“If the PDP is to free Nigerians from the strong hold of APC in 2027, this needs to be a key focus at our NEC meeting in Abuja,” George stated.
George expressed his belief that the PDP was the sole party capable of saving Nigeria and emphasized that it must be prepared to seize the opportunity to advance the country.
He stated that the party should not permit disloyal members to exploit the platform for their own selfish gains, emphasizing that “disloyalty is a very serious offense.”
He stated: “If we aren’t united and do not base our political decisions on equity, fairness, and justice, this party is destined for disaster in 2027.”
To secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, we must remain united. Those who promote division should be clearly told that “Enough is Enough.”
We need to alter the narratives immediately to avoid setting our party on a self-destructive path for 2027.
Given the current hardships and economic mismanagement, Nigerians are anticipating an opportunity in 2027 to remove APC from Aso Rock.
He encouraged party members and leaders from the North to the South to view the upcoming PDP 99th National Executive Committee meeting as a golden opportunity ahead of the next general elections in 2027, advising them “to set aside our differences and engage thoughtfully.”
He believes that the party must make every possible effort to prevent the PDP from becoming obsolete by 2027.
Regarding the political crisis in Rivers State and the conflict between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, who is also the Minister of FCT, Mr. Nyesom Wike, PDP leaders have called on Wike to “calm down immediately.”
George encouraged party leaders not to treat Fubara as an outcast and urged them all to stand up for the overall interests of the party and maintain its integrity.
We must preserve the unity of this party and prevent any fragmentation. Our collective approach to addressing the issues at hand will significantly influence the future success of our party in both the near and distant future.
We are committed to ensuring that the PDP returns to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on May 29, 2027. However, achieving this goal requires us to stand united rather than divided.
He called on senior party figures like Bamanga Tukur, Jim Nwobodo, Ahmadu Ali, Prof. Jerry Gana, Jonah Jang, Peter Odili, James Ibori, former President Goodluck Jonathan and ex-Vice President Namadi Sambo to confront the challenges.
The PDP leader also encouraged Victor Attah, Donald Duke, Okwesilieze Nwodo, Ibrahim Shema, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Saka Balogun, Ebenezer Babatope, Bello Haliru, Senator Adolphus Wabara, Ahmed Makarfi and others to speak up.
George urged the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees to convene a meeting with all the aforementioned elders to discuss future strategies before the National Executive Committee (NEC) gathering.
We cannot afford to let our founding fathers down. Let me make it clear: Nigerians are counting on us in 2027, but we need to get our affairs in order first.
As leaders, we must preserve our party and prevent any attempts to undermine it because the PDP stands as the sole genuine national party.
