Bode George Endorses Ude-Okoye as PDP National Secretary
Elder statesman Bode George has thrown his support behind Ude-Okoye as the authentic National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reinforcing party unity.
Bode George, an elder statesman and member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, has expressed his support for his colleagues’ decision to acknowledge Sunday Ude-Okoye as the legitimate National Secretary of the party.
It has been reported that a dispute has arisen between Ude-Okoye and Samuel Anyanwu regarding the PDP National Secretary position, as both individuals are asserting their right to it.
Following a meeting of the Board of Trustees on Wednesday, they called upon the party’s National Working Committee to promptly install Ude-Okoye as the official national secretary of the party.
On the Politics Today program on Channels Television this past Friday, George elaborated that their choice to support Ude-Okoye was founded on a Court of Appeal decision confirming him as the legitimate National Secretary of PDP.
I fully agree with the facts they’ve presented so far. What do you expect the elders to do? The report clearly stated that there was no alternative Court of Appeal report other than Okoye’s.
George stated, “What do you expect us to do? If Anyanwu chooses to take the matter to the Supreme Court and they overturn the decision of the Court of Appeal, we will comply with that ruling.”
He, however, urged Anyanwu to move past the situation and promote peace so that the party can concentrate on its responsibilities as an opposition.
He believes that even with the crisis affecting the PDP, it remains more internally organized than the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The seasoned statesman expressed confidence that the PDP would not completely collapse, as he believes the party’s core foundation remains entirely solid.
