Bode George Criticizes Fayose for Supporting Gov. Oyebanji’s Re-Election
George, who was featured on Monday’s episode of Channels Television’s Politics Today, expressed that there would be an issue if Fayose actually announced his support for Oyebanji.
He stated that the PDP will initiate an investigation into the former governors from his ward to determine if he will face sanctions for engaging in anti-party activities.
If Governor Fayose indeed publicly rejected the party and announced his intention to support the APC governor, he has clearly stated his position. Starting from his ward, arrangements will be made for an investigation within Ekiti State before any reports are filed.
“Ayo understands that it’s problematic for someone to claim membership of this party and be a former two-term governor, only to now openly support the opposition party’s governor,” George remarked.
During an appearance on Sunday Politics on October 13, Fayose lauded Governor Oyebanji, stating that it would require a miracle for the PDP to overcome him in the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.
He stated, “As of today, I am a member of the PDP and the governor is with the APC. However, our common ground is that I hold a leadership position in Ekiti.”
“I’m unsure what miracle could overcome him unless something changes between now and the election.”
“Let’s skip the party talk and be realistic—the PDP is facing a serious crisis in Ekiti. Anyone can come here to deny it, but I don’t care.”
George mentioned that the PDP has the potential to address and resolve its current crisis. He acknowledged that it’s normal for a party to experience challenging periods, but emphasized that the present situation in the PDP is not being handled in the most effective way.
He expressed his disappointment that PDP members are letting personal interests disrupt the party’s harmony, emphasizing that prioritizing the party’s interest over individual agendas is essential for lasting peace within the PDP.
He urged the warring party members to refrain from airing their grievances publicly and to give peace a chance within the party.
