The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, on bail after his recent detention.
On Thursday night, Bobrisky was prevented from boarding a KLM flight to Amsterdam at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while traveling to London, United Kingdom.
Soon after the incident, he notified his social media followers, stating that he had sustained injuries during the encounter.
“Nigerians, please assist me; the EFCC has just arrested me and I’m seriously injured,” Bobrisky shared.
He was subsequently transported by air to the EFCC’s headquarters in Abuja, where he underwent interrogation regarding bribery allegations involving the agency.

In an audio recording released by outspoken critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky purportedly stated that he offered N15 million to EFCC officials to have money laundering charges against him dropped.
After securing his bail late on Friday night, Bobrisky was released following a discussion with the anti-graft agency where he explained his side of the story.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed his release on Saturday but did not provide additional details.
According to a source close to the situation, Bobrisky stated in his communication with the EFCC that he did not engage in any bribery and questioned the validity of the voice note.
According to the source, he completely refuted any involvement in offering a bribe to officials for dismissing money laundering charges against him. He reiterated this denial in his statement and challenged the person who posted the voice note to substantiate their claims. He asserted that no one from the EFCC solicited money from him, nor did he provide anyone with anything.
