Bobrisky 3-Week Prison Stay: Guarded Like President
Bobrisky reportedly spent only 3 weeks in prison, receiving VIP treatment and being guarded like a president. Discover the details of his stay.
According to OBASANJONEWS report, transsexual Okuneye Olanrewaju, also known as Bobrisky, was sentenced to six months in prison in April for abusing naira. However, it appears that Bobrisky only served three weeks in prison.
The majority of Bobrisky’s term appears to have been served outside of prison, according to a recorded phone conversation published by social media celebrity Martins Vincent Otse, also known online as VeryDarkMan, on Tuesday.
In addition, she stated that she had paid N15 million to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in order to get the accusations of “money laundering” against her dropped.
The topic of corruption in Nigerian jails has come up again in light of these disclosures. “A thorough and unconditional investigation into the allegations of bribery and corruption within the Nigerian Correctional Service” has been requested by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo in response.
Although Bobrisky was first transferred to Kirikiri jail following her sentencing in April, sources close to the matter told FIJ on Thursday that she departed the facility after just three weeks and was formally released in August.

Bob was only with us at Kirikiri for three weeks before she was removed to a location we are unsure of, an officer from the jail told FIJ. It was a “arrangee thing,” where she spent her time. There was also financial involvement.
According to the source, Bobrisky was “guarded like a president” before being discreetly taken out of prison.
“She was treated like a VIP throughout,” the person said. She occupied a unique cell. There are no lies in the amount she claimed to have paid. Indeed, she made the payment.
These allegations are consistent with an undercover investigation conducted in 2019 by FIJ founder “Fisayo Soyombo,” who purposefully got himself arrested and imprisoned. This investigation revealed that it was feasible to bribe prison officials in exchange for benefits like furnished cells, the ability to bring in contraband, and even the ability to avoid serving a prison sentence altogether.
Incident During Video Call with Bobrisky
The source also related a noteworthy incident that happened when Bobrisky was a Kirikiri resident. She was kept apart from other prisoners by the jail administration, but one incident stuck out.
The official revealed, “One day, this guy was on a video call with his girlfriend, and he suddenly turned the camera on Bobrisky.” “Bobrisky was imprisoned in his cell for almost two months as a punishment because it was considered an invasion of his privacy.”
“As I said, she was heavily guarded, so there weren’t many of such incidents to point at,” the person continued. And after three weeks, she was discreetly taken away.
Bobrisky’s Visit from James Brown?
When Otse claimed to have visited Bobrisky on June 8, social media users started to wonder who else, including well-known crossdresser James Brown, had visited in Kirikiri jail.
Bobrisky was out of prison “by the time James visited,” a source close to James’ camp told FIJ on Thursday.
James went there to see a man named Vindicate, who had asked her to work with him on a song she was going to record while incarcerated. She was allowed to go because the prison administration approved of the concept of a song recorded there.
No Refusal from the Prison Administration
The Nigerian Correctional Service has not openly refuted or acknowledged the allegations that Bobrisky did not finish her jail sentence in Kirikiri as of yet.
But on Thursday night, the Interior Ministry declared that Michael Anugwa and Sikiru Adekunle, the two deputy controllers of corrections (DCCs) in charge of Kirikiri’s medium-security custodial center, had been suspended “due to their unprofessional behavior in managing the case of Nigerian transvestite Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.”
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board secretary, Ja’afaru Ahmed, declared that the suspension was required to enable additional inquiry.
