At the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari displayed his sense of humour by engaging Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah in amusing banter that had the latter giggling hysterically.
Bishop Kukah is known for being critical of the Buhari administration, even though he used to support it. This helped the All Progressive Congress win the 2015 election.
The Catholic Diocese of Sokoto’s ruling clergy had previously criticised Buhari’s leadership style, particularly with regard to security-related matters.

Before the two men got a chance to laugh together, President Buhari stated that Nigeria’s capacity to obtain loans for development was only made possible because lenders had faith in Nigeria’s ability to repay.
Kukah was a member of the group that visited the president on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with the executive members of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN.
