President Joe Biden and his wife Jill expressed their love for their son and their commitment to honoring the legal process in response to a Delaware jury’s decision to find Hunter Biden guilty of federal gun offenses. Hunter Biden, the younger son of the President, faced three felony charges related to a firearm purchase in 2018, during a period when he was struggling with addiction and provided false information on a gun control document. This verdict marked the first time a sitting president’s son has been convicted in federal court.

In a statement, President Biden stated, “Jill and I have deep love for our son and are immensely proud of the person he has become. I will respect the outcome of this case and will continue to uphold the legal process as Hunter considers his options for appeal. Jill and I will always stand by Hunter and the rest of our family with unwavering love and support, a bond that will remain unchanging.”

Joe Biden married Jill Jacobs in 1977, following the tragic loss of his first wife Neilia and their daughter Naomi in a car accident five years earlier. Hunter and his older brother Beau were both seriously injured in the same accident. Joe Biden was sworn in as a US senator in the hospital room where his sons were recovering.

Beau Biden passed away from brain cancer in 2015. Hunter later became romantically involved with Beau’s widow, Hallie. It was Hallie who discovered the Colt Cobra revolver, which had been illegally purchased by Hunter, in his vehicle and disposed of it. Believing the gun was stolen, Hunter’s actions led to the involvement of the Secret Service in recovering the firearm.

The revelation of the entire incident was made possible by Hunter Biden’s laptop, which he left at a repair shop in Delaware while under the influence of crack cocaine and subsequently forgot about it. The laptop’s contents surfaced during the 2020 presidential election, but social media platforms censored the New York Post for reporting the story, while Biden had current and former US intelligence officials dismiss it as “Russian disinformation.” The trial confirmed the authenticity of the laptop and its contents.

Hunter’s verdict was delivered as his father was set to attend a gun control event in Washington, DC.

In late May, a New York jury found Biden’s main presidential rival, Donald Trump, guilty on 34 counts of “falsifying business records.” The Biden campaign quickly labeled Trump a “convicted felon” and urged voters not to support him.

Although some Republicans celebrated the Delaware verdict, many noted that Hunter was not charged with more serious offenses such as foreign bribery or tax evasion. Trump’s campaign described the trial as “nothing but a distraction from the actual crimes of the Biden Crime Family, which has received millions of dollars from China, Russia, and Ukraine.”

“Corrupt Joe Biden’s control over the Biden Family Criminal Empire is nearing its end on November 5th, and never again will a Biden trade government access for personal gain,” stated Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt.
