The inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu is scheduled for next Monday, and US President Joe Biden has confirmed a team that would go on his behalf.
The White House made this formal declaration on Monday under the heading “President Biden Announces Presidential Delegation to the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Attend the Inauguration of His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
The Secretary of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Marcia L. Fudge, will serve as the delegation’s leader, according to the announcement.
According to a statement from the White House, President Joseph R. Biden Jr. “today announced the designation of a Presidential Delegation to attend the Inauguration of His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 29, 2023, in Abuja, Nigeria.”
Members of the Presidential Delegation also include Sydney Kamlager-Dove, United States Representative (D), California; David Greene, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., U.S. Embassy Abuja; and Marisa Lago, Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, U.S. Department of Commerce.
General Michael E. Langley, the director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, Enoh T. Ebong, and Mary Catherine Phee, the assistant secretary of state for the bureau of African affairs at the U.S. Department of State, are also members of the delegation.
Judd Devermont, who serves as the President’s Special Assistant and Senior Director for African Affairs at the National Security Council, and Monde Muyangwa, Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Africa at the U.S. Agency for International Development, are two further individuals.
