A pro-Democrat US news show plans to broadcast a Biden-must-quit ad, raising eyebrows and stirring conversations in political circles.
After facing off against Trump in the debate, the pressure has mounted on President to abandon his reelection quest.
‘Pass the Torch’, a group of worried Democratic Party voters, has come together to join in pressuring President Joe Biden into withdrawing from his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election.
Seven voters appeared in a video released by the group, requesting Biden to withdraw from the race and prevent losing to his Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump. They laud him for preserving democracy during his present term if he “acts like the leader that we recognize you as.”
“The voters urge you to seize the opportunity and pass on the baton. It is time for us to select a fresh nominee who can infuse new vitality, optimism and ensure that Donald Trump stays miles away from the corridors of power,” reads an advertisement.
A video uploaded on YouTube last week is scheduled to air on MSNBC’s popular show ‘Morning Joe’ starting from Monday. This program happens to be one of Biden’s favorites, and the commercial will cover his Rehoboth advertising region.
Currently recovering from a positive Covid-19 test earlier this week, the 81-year-old politician is staying in his beach home in Delaware. According to Aaron Regunberg, co-founder of Pass the Torch program, both their initiative and advertisement selection aimed at directly conveying its message to him as per NBC news on Friday.
Biden’s mental and physical faculties have been under public scrutiny for a while now, but following his disastrous televised debate with Donald Trump last month, concerns about him deepened. The former vice president flubbed words and numbers, lost track of his thoughts mid-sentence and faced difficulties in completing them. This sparked discord among influential members as well as campaign donors within the Democratic Party who asked Biden to withdraw from the race. In addition to this impasse, plans for an official nomination that was scheduled for this week were postponed till August by party officials.
It has been reported this week that former US President Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have allegedly advised Biden to terminate his campaign. Furthermore, reports suggest that even members of Biden’s family are deliberating options for him to withdraw from the race.
Biden persists in running for presidency, citing his superior ability to defeat Trump as the reason. Sources who confided with NBC revealed that Biden harbors feelings of rage and disloyalty towards attempts aimed at ousting him from the race.
