Biden hints at being the cause of the Hamas attack

US President Joe Biden has put up a notion regarding what could have set off the unexpected attacks by Hamas that precipitated the militant group’s most recent conflict with Israel: him.

Speaking to reporters on Friday in Nantucket, Massachusetts, Biden conjectured that US success in brokering a peace deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia may have served as impetus for Hamas to begin its October 7 attack on towns in southern Israel. The president asserted that the negotiations were intensifying following the announcement at the G20 conference in September of a large railway project, which he claimed credit for and included a link between Riyadh and Israel.

“What I’m about to say cannot be proven,” stated Biden. However, I think that part of the reason Hamas attacked at that particular time was because they were aware of my close collaboration with the Saudis and other regional players to establish regional peace through the acknowledgment of Israel and its right to exist.

Following the start of a four-day ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict on Friday morning, Biden delivered his remarks. He attributed the temporary cessation of hostilities in Gaza to “extensive US diplomacy,” which included calls he made from the Oval Office. 150 Palestinian citizens detained in Israeli prisons would be exchanged for 50 hostages being released by Hamas.

Biden stated, “Today is the result of weeks of personal engagement and a lot of hard work.” “My team and I have been working nonstop to secure their release since Hamas kidnapped these people.”

An estimated 1,200 Israelis were murdered in the raids on October 7, and the Islamist militants captured about 240 prisoners and returned them to Gaza. Over 14,000 people have died in the Palestinian enclave as a result of the war that began after the attacks, according to local health officials.

After the most recent fighting in Gaza started, Saudi Arabia, which was allegedly close to reaching an agreement to normalise relations with Israel, postponed the accord.

The Abraham Accords, which allowed Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates to establish diplomatic ties with Israel, were mediated by Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump. Afterwards, Morocco and Sudan signed the agreements.
