President Joe Biden is currently facing criticism from conservative and religious groups following his declaration of March 31 as Transgender Visibility Day, which coincides with Easter Sunday this year. The White House stated that the purpose of this proclamation is to recognize the bravery and contributions of transgender individuals and to emphasize the country’s dedication to unity.

In his proclamation, Biden expressed support for transgender Americans, assuring them of their place in the nation and his administration’s backing. As part of the effort to promote inclusivity, the White House has restricted the submission of Easter eggs with religious symbols or themes in the traditional Easter Art contest, a long-standing event at the White House Easter celebration.

The tradition of celebrating transgender achievements on March 31 began in 2009 and will not align with Easter Sunday again until 2086. Despite this, the overlap this year has sparked outrage among conservative critics, who have condemned the move as disrespectful and offensive. Prominent Republican figures, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate candidate Jim Blanks, have strongly criticized the decision, with some going as far as accusing Democrats of being anti-Christian. Former President Donald Trump also weighed in, denouncing the proclamation as sacrilegious and part of an ongoing attack on Christianity by the Biden Administration.

The Trump campaign expressed strong disapproval over the decision made by Joe Biden’s White House to prohibit children from submitting religious egg designs for their Easter Art event and to officially declare Easter Sunday as ‘Trans Day of Visibility’.

They demanded an apology from President Biden for this action, as stated in a message shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday. In response, the White House defended their choice, accusing Republicans of using the situation to criticize President Biden, despite the fact that Trans Day has always been observed on the last day of March, while Easter Sunday varies each year.

White House spokesperson Andrew Bates emphasized that it is disappointing but not surprising that politicians are attempting to sow division and weaken the nation through harsh, hateful, and deceitful language. He assured that President Biden will never exploit his faith for political gain or personal profit.
