During a debate with former President Donald Trump, US President Joe Biden stated that Israel has successfully weakened Hamas and should work towards completely eliminating the Palestinian militant group. Biden emphasized the need to prevent Hamas from continuing its activities and compared the effort to eliminate the group to the operation that led to the death of Osama Bin Laden.

He also mentioned that Hamas has been significantly weakened and should be eliminated. Additionally, Biden discussed the limitations on certain types of weapons provided to Israel, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed a different perspective.

Trump, on the other hand, criticized Biden’s stance on the conflict and highlighted Israel’s agreement to a ceasefire proposal put forward by the United States. Can

Biden argued that his administration “rescued Israel” by intercepting an Iranian drone and missile attack in April. “We provide more support to Israel than any other country in the world,” the current US president emphasized.

Trump has consistently shown strong support for Israel, both during his presidency and after leaving office. On the other hand, the Democrats have faced challenges in balancing their backing of the Jewish state with the growing discontent among Palestinian and Arab American voters.

The recent conflict was sparked by Hamas’ unexpected incursion into southern Israel on October 7, resulting in the deaths of around 1,200 individuals and the capture of 250 others. In response, Israel imposed a blockade on Gaza and initiated an air campaign followed by a ground invasion. As per health authorities in Gaza under Hamas control, nearly 38,000 Palestinians have lost their lives since October 7.
