On the eve of the G20 summit in New Delhi, India, Biden visited with Tinubu and reaffirmed the US’ unwavering commitment to Nigeria.
The White House released a statement saying that President Biden “welcomed the Tinubu Administration’s steps to reform Nigeria’s economy and thanked President Tinubu for his strong leadership as the chair of the Economic Community of West African States to defend and preserve democracy and the rule of law in Niger and the wider region.
The invitation to the G20 Summit by Nigeria is an acknowledgment of its significant global position as the largest democracy and economy in Africa.
