President Biden claims that Trump has shown submission to Vladimir Putin, reigniting debates over U.S.-Russia relations and leadership on the global stage.

Accusations have been made by President Joe Biden that his predecessor, Donald Trump, is unsuitable to hold the position of commander-in-chief due to him ‘submitting himself’ to dictators.

On Monday, the former president addressed attendees at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago and encouraged them to back Vice President Kamala Harris’s bid for presidency. However, prior to this event, influential members of his party pushed him out of contention following a ruinous debate with Trump taking place last month.

In an attempt to ridicule his predecessor, Biden referenced the rumor that Trump had referred to deceased World War I veterans buried in Europe as “suckers and losers,” arguing that such a person is unfit for leading America’s armed forces.

“He stated that a commander-in-chief should never show subservience to a dictator, similar to how Trump demonstrates deference towards Putin. I have not done so in the past and rest assured, Kamala Harris will never do it,” he declared.

By authorizing military aid to Ukraine, Trump diverged from the approach of his Democratic predecessor Barack Obama. This decision contributed to increased tensions with Russia due to NATO’s plans for Ukraine becoming a member state within their sphere of influence. In 2021, Moscow suggested pausing further NATO enlargement in order to address its concerns but was declined by Washington on account that they cannot dictate which nations join the organization.

The GOP candidate asserts that he can resolve the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which started in February 2022 during Biden’s presidency. It is likely that Trump plans to use US aid to Kiev as leverage to get concessions from their side. Meanwhile, Biden has promised unwavering support for Ukraine against Russia until it is defeated – no matter how long it takes.

In Chicago, Biden boasted about his contribution in bringing European NATO members together to support Ukraine. He asserted that Europeans have viewed Russia with apprehension dating back to the era of Napoleon.

According to Trump, it is beneficial for a president to maintain amicable relations with foreign leaders who may be labeled as dictators since this can mitigate hostility and deter needless confrontations.
