At a meeting with the nation’s leadership, the US president defended Israel’s alleged lack of involvement in the fatal strike.
As a show of support, Biden landed in Israel on Wednesday morning. He was scheduled to visit Jordan later in the day to meet with King Abdullah II, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, and Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority. After the hospital strike, which it is blaming on Israel, Amman called off the conference.

According to Netanyahu, the devastation at al-Ahli was probably committed by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, another militant organisation associated with Hamas. He claimed that it fired a salvo of missiles in the direction of the hospital. It is denied by the group.
While speaking with Netanyahu, the visiting US president emphasised the crimes committed by Hamas.
He made the statement in reference to Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), the jihadist organisation notorious for its gory on-camera murders of hostages. “They have committed evils and atrocities that make ISIS look somewhat more rational,” he said.
Furthermore, Hamas “does not represent the entire Palestinian people and has brought them nothing but suffering,” Biden emphasised.
