Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, a former Nigerian ambassador to Spain and the widow of the late Ikemba Nnewi, gave advice to young Nigerians on Saturday to avoid vices and other anti-social behaviors that are presently endangering the country’s progress and peace.
The counsel was given by Mrs. Ojukwu during the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra and Independence Biafra Movement’s (MASSOB-BIM) 11th annual Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Memorial Lecture in Owerri.
She claimed that the country’s existing criminalities, including murders, kidnappings, and other incidents, were concerning.
Ojukwu said it was terrible for the youth to turn to the usage of strong drugs that led to criminality, despite the fact that she blamed the issue on a lack of work prospects.
She counseled them to hold onto hope and take advantage of the 2023 elections to choose the appropriate candidates for the country’s excellent government.
She believed that if the appropriate leaders were given control, there would be plenty of opportunity for the majority of people to find productive employment, which would reduce crime.
The former most attractive woman in Nigeria praised the Igbo people for upholding the principles of nationhood for which her late husband battled.
She expressed her gratitude to Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, the event’s organizer, for consistently planning the mourning service since 2012.
Ojukwu utilized the platform to urge the federal government to free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who are under international sanctions.
She said that doing so will contribute to the South-East geopolitical region becoming peaceful again and that “no nation that takes its people captive can ever have peace.”
In an earlier speech, the event’s chairman and former Green Eagles coach, Mr. Fanny Amun, congratulated Uwazuruike for his nonviolent protest.
He urged ongoing national unity and peace, saying that the needs and ambitions of Nigerians will be satisfied in due course.
Igbo people from the five states of Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, and Imo reportedly attended the event and performed a variety of masquerades and other ethnic dances.
