Lawyer Aloy Ejimakor voices concerns about the emotional and physical impact of Nnamdi Kanu’s ongoing legal struggles on his family, urging immediate attention to their plight.

Aloy Ejimakor, the principal attorney for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), stated on Monday that the difficulties faced by Kanu are negatively affecting his family.

Ejimakor stated that those opposing the efforts by Kanu’s family to secure his release are acting against the IPOB leader.

Ejimakor posted on X, stating: “It’s important to understand that the challenges faced by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu primarily affect his immediate family, who are key stakeholders and therefore most suitable to act in his best interest.”

“Those opposing every action taken by his family members are essentially working against #MNK.”

This follows accusations by Kanu’s brother, Kanunta, claiming that President Bola Tinubu has failed to fulfill his promise of releasing the IPOB leader.

Kanunta asserted that he had an agreement with the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu, for Kanu’s release during the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election.

He revealed that the meeting was approved by the President.

Kanunta, however, expressed regret that Tinubu has not fulfilled the agreement to release the IPOB leader.

Since his rearrest and forced repatriation from Kenya to Nigeria in 2021, the leader of IPOB has been imprisoned.

When Kanu returned, he was required to continue his trial; however, the Appeal Court had already discharged and acquitted him of all charges brought against him by the Nigerian government.

Although the Appeal Court ruled in favor, the Nigerian government has not released Kanu.

During his visit to Enugu State over the weekend, Tinubu held meetings with several South-East stakeholders.

During the visit, the stakeholders remained silent regarding the calls for releasing the IPOB leader.

Before the visit, Ohanaeze Ndigbo had encouraged Tinubu to make a lasting mark by releasing Kanu.
