The N-Power program beneficiaries are now receiving their long overdue arrears as the Federal Government has resumed payment.

Under the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, these beneficiaries were owed several months’ salaries. However, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, has assured that the payment of arrears will continue until every beneficiary is paid.

Edu made this announcement during her appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today. She emphasized that the government is committed to reducing unemployment and creating job opportunities for Nigerians through the restructuring of the N-Power program. It is important to note that the program was temporarily suspended when President Bola Tinubu took over, but the current government aims to settle the outstanding issues before relaunching the program.

The delay in payment was attributed to the previous consultant responsible for managing the payments, who held onto the funds for months without disbursing them to the beneficiaries.

The minister stated that the government has taken the necessary steps to retrieve the funds and transfer them back to the government’s TSA CBN account. Currently, the beneficiaries are undergoing a thorough examination, which has caused the delay. Therefore, the minister urges the younger generation to exercise patience during this process.
