The APC has emerged victorious in the Benue State local government polls, claiming all chairmanship and councillorship seats. Explore the details of the electoral outcome and its impact.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) won decisively in the local government elections across Benue State, capturing all 23 chairmanship positions.
The Chairman of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), Mr. Richard Tombowua, made this announcement on Sunday.
Alongside securing the chairmanship positions, the APC also won all 276 councillorship seats after elections were conducted across the state’s 5,102 polling units, which are distributed among 276 council wards within the 23 local government areas.

Tombowua disclosed that although eight political parties were scheduled to participate, only five—APC, APGA, Labour Party (LP), PDP, and SDP—actively contested in the elections.
In spite of the competition, APC became the leading force throughout all local government areas.
“There wasn’t a single local government where a candidate ran unopposed; every election was keenly contested for both the chairmanship and councillorship positions,” Tombowua remarked.
The electoral officers representing each of the 23 local governments reportedly compiled and confirmed the results.
