The governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, claims that cooperation amongst security services has restored “relative peace” to the state.
The governor pledged the security agencies of the state government’s assistance during his remarks at the graduation ceremony for Course 9/2023 of the Air War College at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Makurdi.
The presence of the military forces in the state and their ongoing participation in key events, according to Alia, will inspire confidence and hope in the populace, allowing them to go asleep with their eyes closed.
He expressed gratitude to both the Federal Government and the Nigerian Armed Forces for helping Benue State, which he said continued to be the most hospitable in the nation.
The governor congratulated the graduates and gave them a challenge to continue serving as good ambassadors for their country.
Earlier in his speech, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, speaking in place of Minister of Defence Mohammed Abubakar, praised the Nigerian Armed Forces for consistently repositioning themselves with a strong emphasis on human capital development.
According to Abubakar, the War College would foster proactive decision-making in the military while also fostering critical thinking in the Nigerian Air Force.
The governor was complimented for taking time out of his hectic schedule to attend the graduation.
Noting that the governor of Benue has shown a readiness to work with the Nigerian Armed Forces, the minister gave him the assurance that the military will provide him with the necessary support to ensure that peace is restored in the region.
