Amina Audu, the suspended chairman of the Okpokwu LGA in Benue State, and two other people have reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen who are thought to be Fulani herders.
On Monday, sources in Makurdi informed journalists that Audu and two other people were abducted while travelling along the Makurdi – Naka route.

The source went on to say that the herders with guns kidnapped her along with her driver and a relative. They allegedly blocked the road and opened fire on her car.
Witnesses who requested to remain anonymous claimed that after being stripped of their personal belongings, they were led into the bush and their car was dragged to a nearby village by local guards who took to their heels due to the robbers’ superior firepower.
The spokesman for the Benue Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, has not responded to inquiries, thus attempts to obtain information regarding the incident from her have not been successful.
