The Benue government has suspended five senior staff members following the disappearance of a transformer, launching an investigation into the incident.

Five senior officials have been confirmed suspended by the Benue State government due to their involvement in the disappearance of a transformer and vandalism of another.

The suspensions were announced by the State Head of Service (HoS), Dr. Agbogbo Ode, at a press briefing in Makurdi on Tuesday.

The Director of Planning and Research at the Ministry of Rural Development and Cooperatives has been suspended indefinitely for his involvement in the disappearance of a transformer.

After conducting an investigation, Dr. Ode clarified that the case did not involve any direct participation from either the Permanent Secretary or Director of Administration and Supply in the ministry.

Four senior staff members of the State Secretariat have been suspended and will be charged for their supposed participation in damaging a transformer situated within the secretariat. Moreover, they’re likely to face legal consequences for their actions.

Dr. Ode stressed that the state administration would not endure any type of disobedience among its employees.

Dr. Ode discussed rumors regarding Agbo Ochekpe’s resignation from the Ministry of Education and Knowledge Management due to allegations of corruption in a different subject matter.

After issuing an unauthorized letter of introduction for a student intending to study in Congo without obtaining proper approval, Ochekpe resigned. He clarified this information.

According to Dr. Ode, Ochekpe’s resignation was a conscious admission of their error and displayed accountability.
