The ongoing internal crisis within the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) shows no signs of abating, with the Austin Agada-led faction and the Benjamin Omakolo faction reigniting their battle for legitimacy and supremacy in Makurdi.

The conflict escalated when the Agada-led faction, supported by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Dr George Akume, inaugurated members of an Ad Hoc Zoning Committee in an undisclosed location in Makurdi ahead of the local government election.

The Publicity Secretary of the party in Benue State, Hon Daniel Ihonmu, emphasized the importance of including party stakeholders in the Zoning process in each zone of the state.

Meanwhile, the State Working Committee of the party commenced the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the upcoming election, with Chairmanship forms priced at N100,000 and N250,000, and Councillorship forms at N50,000 and N100,000, respectively.

The statement also highlighted that women would receive both forms free of charge, with payments to be made through Zenith Bank account Number 1223095804.

However, the Benjamin Omakolo-led faction, supported by the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia, issued a counter statement warning against what they termed as “Diaspora Yahoo Arrangements” and urged party members to disregard any election notices not originating from the factional Organizing Secretary, Hon James Ornguga.
