The House of Representatives announced on Wednesday, May 15, that students who have graduated from military-related secondary schools across Nigeria should be given priority for admission into the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA).
Despite some members’ concerns about interfering in the recruitment process of the Academy, the House agreed that the training received by these students should not go to waste.
In response to this resolution, the House directed its committee on defense to engage with relevant agencies involved in this matter.

Emeka Idu Godwin (LP, Anambra) highlighted that the military schools aim to produce middle commissioned officers and provide rigorous training in various military subjects.
However, many graduates face challenges in gaining admission to the NDA, which is why a more inclusive and fair admission process is necessary.
