On Saturday, Rivers United of Port Harcourt and Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin strengthened their positions as the group leaders in the 2022–2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
On Match Day 4 of Group A, the hosts, Bendel Insurance, defeated the former leaders, Remo Stars FC of Ikenne, 3-0, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
With 12 points after eight goals and one goal conceded in four games, the victory allowed them to maintain their unblemished record.
Remo Stars, who had previously led them on goals difference, is now three points back with nine points from three wins and one loss in four games.
On the fourth day of Group B play, defending champions Rivers United defeated the home team Dakkada FC 2-1 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Rivers United’s victory means that after four games, they now have 10 points from three victories and a draw.

Imade Osarenkhoe, who had already scored four goals in the competition, scored the first goal for the hosts in the fifth minute, and Ismael Sarki increased their lead in the 26th.
In the 78th minute, substitute Austin Ogunye scored to put the game past Remo Stars.
Although the hosts took the lead thanks to a goal from Isaac George in the 16th minute, Rivers United rallied to win the match.
However, Nyima Nwagua’s goal in the 35th minute brought them level, and Naibe Akpesiri’s goal right before halftime gave them the lead.
The league’s two groups will each have four games on Sunday as part of the Match Day 4 schedule, according to NAN.
