Before the March 11 governorship election, Lagos Police has issued a strong warning
The Lagos State Police Command has threatened to bring legal action against anyone disseminating false information and “provocative content” online with the intention of spreading fear throughout the state.
This was stated on Monday by the command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin.
Prior to the March 11 election for governor, Hundeyin was responding to the rise in propaganda and racial incitement on social media.

He also disclosed that the state’s police had launched inquiries into connected cases with the intention of bringing charges against individuals who are found guilty.
“The command has started looking into this scaremongering with the goal of finding those responsible and bringing them to justice.
“The good people and residents of the state are asked to avoid any forms of messaging, especially on social media showing bogus, false, and absurd statements intended to jeopardise the tranquilly currently enjoyed in the state,” stated Hundeyin.
