Kashim Shettima, the vice president-elect, was given a tour of the presidential house by vice president Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday.
After visiting a few of the villa’s administrative offices, Shettima talked with State House reporters and said: “On the invitation of the Vice President, who is a friend of my age, I came here only to discuss views on how to advance the country.
“He showed me around the offices out of politeness, and I want to compliment him and thank him for doing so. The cross-fertilization of ideas is true.
He stated: “I think Tinubu would hit the ground running from day one. As for when Nigerians can anticipate the effect of the Tinubu-Shettima administration. The luxury of time is not something he has. I will serve as the vice president. I don’t want to seem conceited or loud in saying this, but my contact with him has indicated that we will get started right away.
“It was a historical experience, a humbling experience,” he remarked of receiving the national honor from departing President Muhammadu Buhari. We are not who we are because of our intelligence, athletic strength, family heritage, or political sagacity. God is just giving it to us, four or eight years at a time.
“By God’s help, we need the assistance of all of you, particularly the media, to succeed. I feel it to be a humble experience and a summons to national responsibility.
Therefore, I want to hire each and every one of you to help us create a new Nigeria.
Both Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima are expected to take the oath of office on May 29, 2023, at a ceremony that will take place in Eagle Square, Abuja.
