The winners of the April 6 Local Government Area elections in Bayelsa State were presented with certificates of return by the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC) on Monday.
The ceremony, held at the NUJ Press Centre in Yenagoa, saw the 8 Local Government Council Chairmen and their Vice, all from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), receive their certificates.
Dr Peter Singabele, Chairman of BYSIEC, emphasized that this event marked the completion of BYSIEC’s role in the 2024 election by issuing the certificates of return.
Once sworn in, the elected Chairmen can begin their duties as representatives of their respective council areas, contributing to the grassroots level of governance.

Bulodisiye Ndiwara, the Chairman-elect of Yenagoa LGA, expressed gratitude to BYSIEC for the successful conduct of the election and acknowledged the support of the PDP and the voters.
Mrs Alice Allen Tangi, the only female Chairman-elect of Sagbama LGA, pledged to improve governance at the grassroots level, particularly in the areas of agriculture, human capacity development, and education funding.
She emphasized the importance of empowering the girl child and promoting agriculture among the community, ensuring that farmers receive adequate support.
