The governor, who is running for reelection, compared the election taking place next month to a conflict between light and darkness.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate for governor in next month’s election, Timipre Sylva, has the governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, reiterating that he is not at odds with the party in general.
The governor’s remarks come after the Federal High Court ruled on Monday that Sylva would violate the 1999 constitution as amended if permitted to run again as governor after being sworn in twice and serving five years in office.
As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate seeking re-election, Diri emphasised his stance on Tuesday while canvassing for votes in the state’s Ogbia Local Government Area.

The governor asked the electorate to support the PDP on November 11 and accused the APC flag bearer of being a serial liar.
Over the course of three days, Diri visited many communities in Ogbia LGA, where he was warmly welcomed by his fans.
The residents of Otuasega and Kolo thanked him for honouring his word to them regarding development.
Along with endorsing the governor and the PDP campaign organisation, the traditional leaders advised their constituents to support the party. Prominent council members did the same.
As he cited occasions in which the APC governorship candidate allegedly misled him personally and the residents of Bayelsa State, Diri characterised the election taking place next month as a conflict between light and darkness.
