Bauchi State Governor voices strong opposition to President Tinubu’s policies, cautioning they might have disastrous effects on Nigeria’s economy and governance.

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has once again cautioned that the current policies being implemented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have the potential to undermine the country’s prosperity if not properly managed.

Mohammed issued the warning on Wednesday when he hosted Apostle Johnson Suleiman, the Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, at Government House Bauchi.

He clarified that his frequent criticisms of federal government policies were not due to any personal grudge against President Tinubu, but rather because he felt doubtful about them.

The governor insisted that he would relentlessly highlight the President’s shortcomings as long as Nigerians remain disadvantaged by his policies and programs.

“To begin with, I would like to use this opportunity to clarify things in the presence of Apostle Suleiman, a man of God who has spoken sincerely from his heart. You have heard what he said,” he remarked.

I don’t hold any personal resentment towards the President.

I am someone who holds great respect for leadership institutions, particularly the presidency. As you may recall from my time in the Senate when I advocated for the Doctrine of Necessity, it reflects my commitment to dignifying high offices like that of Vice President—an office through which my superior ascended to become president.

Governor Bala Mohammed expressed that, in fact, he holds President Tinubu in high regard.

“But someone needs to step up and tell him the truth,” Mohammed mentioned.

“From the man of God, I now understand that he is surrounded by misfits.”

Tinubu began his role in governance lacking preparation, an agenda, and a manifesto.

“We had great confidence in him due to his track record and experience as a former governor of Lagos, where he achieved remarkable results.”

I was leaping with joy when he became the president, despite belonging to a different party.

I initially believed that a new era of independence had arrived, but I’ve witnessed freedom and development slipping away. As a responsible statesman and leader at the sub-national level, I must advise against stifling the aspirations of Nigerians by reducing all citizens to mere customers in your quest to achieve personal goals.

We should regard Nigerians as citizens, not customers. We must avoid policies that create division among us and instead embrace the principle of living and letting live while respecting our diversity.

We should avoid allowing impunity, ensuring that people do not feel shortchanged.

It is important for us to embrace and practice inclusivity.

What I’m suggesting is that your government can improve by focusing on accommodation, inclusion, and having a clear vision for Nigeria’s future. Instead of reacting hastily with unfamiliar policies and programs that might lead to misunderstandings, it’s important to have well-thought-out plans in place.

Tinubu’s policies lack a clear vision and are leading us towards ruin. This is why, when I discuss tax reforms, it’s not out of opposition to reform itself but rather because I desire changes that will have a positive national impact. I hold no personal grievances against the president; in fact, he has my respect.

Earlier, during a session with journalists, Suleiman attributed the current predicament of Nigerians to their own actions.

The challenges facing Nigerians are partly a consequence of their choices. Prior to the election, many voiced concerns about electing someone who presented no manifesto and simply claimed it was their turn to lead. Without clear promises or commitments to refer back to, there is little accountability in leadership decisions now being made.
