Bauchi Governor Criticizes Wike, Calls His Dual Loyalties ‘Shameless

Bauchi State Governor has slammed FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, accusing him of displaying ‘shameless’ dual loyalties in his political dealings.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, accusing him of displaying “shameless” dual loyalties that are detrimental to Nigerian politics.

Governor Mohammed addressed Wike’s recent remarks made during a media chat, where Wike criticized his position on President Bola Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills. This response was issued in a statement by Mukhtar Gidado, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

The statement expressed that Chief Wike’s rise in politics illustrates the opportunities given to him by the PDP. However, he now eagerly undermines the very foundation that supported his growth. It is disappointing that someone who owes so much to a party which has supported him throughout his political journey has opted to play an active role in its disparagement.

Governor Mohammed, in his capacity as Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, criticized Wike’s political behavior, describing it as inconsistent and divisive.

“Unlike Wike, known for his dramatic and divisive approach, Sen. Bala Mohammed recognizes that politics is meant to serve the public rather than be a stage for self-serving theatrics. The statement further noted that Wike’s unpredictable behavior and opportunistic partnerships reveal him as an unreliable ally, traits which have distanced even his former supporters.”

Governor Mohammed rejected Wike’s comments criticizing his stance on the Tax Reform Bills, calling them hypocritical and baseless.

Despite Wike’s accusations of insincerity towards others, he has effortlessly shifted from a self-declared stalwart of the PDP to an enthusiastic supporter of the APC government. He now champions the re-election bid for the same APC administration in 2027, while still asserting his membership in the PDP. This contradictory behavior casts significant doubt on Wike’s credibility and moral integrity.

The governor stressed that his position on the tax reforms was driven by principles and intended to promote inclusive governance and accountability.

Nigerians are not fooled by Wike’s tactics. They perceive him as someone prepared to compromise his party for personal benefit, with loyalties that change as quickly as his alliances. In contrast, Senator Bala Mohammed’s opposition to the Tax Reform Bills demonstrates a principled stance focused on ensuring inclusive governance and accountability. His constructive contributions have already resulted in significant changes in the reform process, highlighting the value of meaningful dialogue over empty rhetoric.

Governor Mohammed further cautioned that Wike’s political strategies establish a risky precedent for Nigeria’s democracy.

The statement concluded that Chief Wike’s shifting allegiances—if they can even be termed as such—set a perilous precedent in Nigerian politics. His blatant switching between the PDP and APC threatens the ethical foundation of democracy, as political actions should be driven by principles rather than personal whims. Wike’s conduct mirrors George Orwell’s *Animal Farm*, where roles become indistinct and values fade away, illustrating an amoral brand of politics that erodes public trust and harms national unity.
